Prayer To Holy Year of St. Paul

Archdiocesan Prayer for

Holy Year of St. Paul:

Blessed be your name,

O God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

for you have blessed us in Christ

with every spiritual blessing in the heavens.

Your Son “humbled himself,

and became obedient to death,

even death on a cross” (Phil 2:8)

During this Holy Year of your Apostle Paul, we pray that we may also strive

no longer to live for ourselves

but to be ever more transformed

into the image and likeness

of Christ, your Son,

first born of all creation,

who lives and reigns with you

and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever

My brothers and sisters in Christ:

As we come near the end of the Advent season and approach the Christmas holidays with excitement and even anxiety, let us pause and reflect on the meaning and significance of what we are preparing and celebrating for.  With all the commercial glitters and extravagance that usually proliferate around us during this time of the year, we can easily be distracted and even tempted to stray away from what we should focus on, especially on how we enlighten our children on what Christmas is all about.  On different degrees, we are all victims and perpetrators of this seasonal predilection.  In one of the Masses in our Parish, the refrain of the song that was sung seems to point to the right sentiment of this time of our celebration:

We remember how you loved us to your death,

and still we celebrate for you are with us here;

And we believe that we will see you

when you come in your Glory, Lord.

We remember, we celebrate, and we believe.

I pray that the FCCCPC and our member communities will grow through the meaningful appropriation of their charisms for the greater Glory of God the Father in heaven.  May the ineffable love of Christ be manifest in our communities, in our homes, and in our individual beings.

On behalf of Jeanette and our family I wish you all very sincerely a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.  Please extend our greetings to all the members of your prayer community.

May the merciful and loving God bless all of us with continued good health, healing, peace, joy, and prosperity.

Ad majoram, dei gloriam.

With fondest thoughts and prayers,

Deacon Bob Rosales
